About

I am retired and live with my wife Patty in Bend, Oregon. I grew up in Western Kansas on a wheat and dairy farm. At age 14 my parents sold their farm and moved to Longview, Washington. After high school graduation, I served two years in the Navy, having joined the Navy Reserve while in high school. I worked three years in sales with an office supply store and moved on to a loan officer position for four years with a credit union. Most of my work career was spent in the insurance business as an agent. During the longest portion, 29 years, I was a partner in an agency and managed a staff of up to 13. My last position prior to retirement was starting an agency from scratch in Bend. We sold the business after 13 years in 2011.

I am a husband, father, step-father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother. Patty and I celebrated our 37th anniversary in January 2018. We are parents to six children.  We often say we have his, hers and ours when asked about our children.

My spiritual journey began September 23rd, 1976 at a Dave Wilkerson crusade. I grew up going to church with my family, but like many who attend church, I did not have a personal relationship with God. Going forward to accept Jesus that evening changed my life!  God orchestrated my being in attendance and drew me to himself. It was as if the Holy Spirit took my hand and walked me forward to accept Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. It began my journey of Faith which has continued through the last 41 years and counting.

If you read between the lines a bit, you will encounter divorce, disappointment, struggle and pain as well as happiness, success and a lot of love, joy and peace. It’s kinda like the country song “Sounds Like Life To Me”.

As 2018 approached and I contemplated what the year ahead would perhaps be like, I began to have a desire to share from my/our life experiences, to talk about the faithfulness of God in my life and on this journey of faith I am walking. The desire grew out of a seed God planted in my heart over 25 years ago, to use my testimony to impart hope and encouragement to others on their own spiritual journey.

This is what has brought life to walkingwithjesussrs. I hope you will walk along with me and with Jesus and that you will experience His faithfulness in your life as never before. If you have never taken a step of Faith and said yes to Jesus, I can testify that He is faithful. God loves you and wants a personal relationship with you.

There is no decision more important than what you choose to do about your eternal destiny!
